POLISH REVIVER on ANTIQUES

Email from Alison 26th Nov 2022 Hi - which product should I buy to clean/polish antique furniture on a regular basis - the traditional wax or the polish reviver?  How often should they be used? Thanks & regards Alison ______ My response:  26th Nov 2022 Hello Alison Polish Reviver would be the best. It will keep the furniture in tip top condition. Will remove buildups of wax, MR Sheen and other products used over the years. It can repair white heat marks, water marks and make it...

EXPIRED HARD SHELLAC

Email from Nick 12th Dec 2022 Hi I have some hard shellac with an expiry date November. You say after the expiry date it won’t be much use'. I’ve tried some test patches, and it dries normally, doesn’t stay sticky. Do you think I can go on using it, or does the ‘cross linking' with the additives stop working even if it applies ok? I will get a new bottle anyway! But it’s not that easy to get here in the UK, my supplier...

WAX OVER WATER DYE on TOYS?

Email from Ale 12th Dec 2022 Good morning, I'm starting to make wood toys and need a tint and finish. Would you think that the non-toxic water dyes + beeswax would be the best way to go? Thanks! ----- My response 12th Dec 2022 Hello Ale Water dyes... YES. Beeswax... NO! Beeswax won't seal the dye into the wood and beeswax is easily damaged with handling, especially so with wooden toys. Best bet for toys is Water Dye, followed up with White Shellac (Dewaxed) or if you want a really tough finish the Hard...

WAX ON GUITAR

Email from Austin 13th Dec 2022 Hi there. Do you have a sales outlet in South Australia? Secondly, a friend gave me a bit of your wax to try on the body of a guitar I'm refurbishing. EEE-ULTRA SHINE on CUTTING BOARDS

Email from Joel 12 Dec 2022 Hi, could I use EEE ultra shine on a cutting board? After the turpentine evaporated is it food safe? ------ My response 12 Dec 2022 Hello Joel You could use it but definitely not recommended as the abrasive that's left in the grain will blunt knives and may add super fine grit to food, etc. Traditional Wax (neutral) is fine once the turpentine has flashed off and is used by a big butcher block manufacturer here in Geelong IHR Butcher Blocks who have supplied their...

Email from Richard 24th Oct 2022 hi there - i am looking or a shellac finish (novice) and was wondering what the difference is, between your hard shellac and the white shellac - i assume both are dewaxed. thanks Richard ------ My response 24th Oct 2022 Hello Richard Both are dewaxed white shellac the only difference is that one has a hardener in it that will give very high resistance against water, alcohol and heat etc. Ideally use the Hard shellac for table tops, and all horizontal surfaces...

FROZEN SHELLAWAX

Email from Billy 4th Jan 23 A full bottle of shellawax froze due to extreme cold temperature in my garage. What can I do to salvage it. Or is it still usable. Thanks My response: 4th Jan 23 Hi Billy Wow that's a first for me. When it's thawed out, shake it up well and it should be fine. Must have been really cold as it normally doesn't freeze due to the high alcohol content. If there is a likelihood more of deep freeze conditions,...

POLISH REVIVER

Email from: Donna 10 Jan 23 Hi there, I have just bought an old Australian Cedar chest of drawers that needs to be revived. It has scuff marks and a few tiny flecks of white paint on the surface. Is your Polish Reviver product good for this? My response: 10 Jan 23 Hello Donna Can't guarantee it but Polish Reviver is your best bet. If it doesn't do what you want there will be nothing else on the market that will. The white paint will most...
